LWVB Member Meeting - FAITH JACKSON Guest Speaker

  • Bloomington Civic Plaza - McLeod Meeting Room (Floor 1) 1800 West Old Shakopee Road Bloomington, MN, 55431 United States (map)

Members and guests will have the opportunity to meet, greet and socialize from 6-6:30pm, with the program beginning at 6pm.

Faith Jackson, Racial Equity Coordinator in the City of Bloomington, will be addressing the topic of Racial Equity through the lens of her role at the City of Bloomington.

Faith’s presentation is timely, as February is Black History Month, honoring the triumphs and struggles of African Americans throughout U.S. history.

Faith Jackson is a dedicated diversity and inclusion professional who enjoys assisting organizations in integrating the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion into their daily practices. In October 2019, Faith became the first-ever Racial Equity Coordinator in the City of Bloomington and the newest member of the City’s executive leadership team. In this role, Faith develops strategies and actions that reduce racial inequities and builds sustainable systems and structures that operationalize racial equity work.  She provides racial equity training to both staff and elected officials and guides the City in identifying structural bias and inequities in policies, programs, and services.

Before joining the City of Bloomington, Faith was the Equity and Inclusion Manager for the City of Saint Paul. Faith began her career with the City of Minneapolis Department of Civil Rights. She assisted the Director in managing civil rights ordinance enforcement and developing workplace diversity and inclusion programming. Faith’s passion for workplace diversity led her to collaborate with the City’s Human Resources Department and City Council to research, develop, and implement enterprise-wide employee resource groups (with the Minneapolis Black Employee Network and Women’s 29 Percent Club being the founding groups.)

Faith is a graduate of Hamline University School of Law and an active champion of diversity inclusion in the Twin Cities legal community. She is a 2018 recipient of the Minnesota Lawyer Diversity and Inclusion Award and has championed scholarship and mentorship programs for BIPOC law students in the Twin Cities region. Faith is also a recipient of the 2022 Finance and Commerce Rising Young Professionals Award. Outside of work, Faith enjoys dancing, poetry, writing music, and volunteering with her church.

Also germane to this topic are the “Racial Equity and Inclusion  Pioneers and Change Makers” videos on the Bloomington Website that spotlight members of our community who represent DE&I. https://www.bloomingtonmn.gov/changemakers
