What's next for voting, including ensuring voting rights for all who are eligible and maximizing voting in every election?

As we commemorate two monumental anniversaries—60 years since the March on Washington and the passage of the Civil Rights Act—it's clear that the fight for voting rights remains as vital as ever. With the United States approaching a pivotal election, we invite you to join us for “What’s Next for Voting?: Still Marching Toward the Mountaintop,” a hybrid event dedicated to renewing our commitment to safeguarding voting rights and and to maximizing voting in all elections.

This event is not just a gathering; it’s a call to action. Together, we’ll reflect on the progress made since the March on Washington, examine efforts in Minnesota and beyond to expand voting access, and confront the challenges we still face, including voter suppression, apathy, and misinformation.

By participating, you'll be part of a community working to develop practical strategies to combat these barriers, motivate young voters, and support the electoral process in ways that extend beyond the ballot box. These strategies will be actionable, allowing you to make a real impact in your community.

Working Lunch

Following the panel discussion, guests in-person at the event will enjoy boxed lunches and dive into facilitated conversations at their tables, engaging with several questions, the answers to which will provide actionable steps to attendees and members of the community.
Guests on Zoom will also have an opportunity to share their thoughts during this time.

Register to attend the event either in-person or virtually.

Precinct Caucuses

Caucuses are an important part of the political process and are run by the major political parties. They begin a series of meetings in which the parties endorse candidates, select delegates for state and national party conventions, and set goals and values (called party platforms). Find you caucus location here.

Who can caucus?

  • Republican Party: anyone eligible to vote in November 2024

  • Legal Marijuana Now Party: anyone 18 years or older and eligible to vote in November 2024

  • Democratic Party: immigrants who are not US citizens and others not eligible to vote in November may participate in addition to those eligible to vote in November 2024

LWVMN Caucus Resolutions

As part of our Advocacy work, LWVMN has drafted template caucus resolutions for members to consider based on our positions. Proposing a resolution at caucus provides an opportunity for members to express their voice and influence what is accepted as part of a party platform. In addition, it can expose your neighbors and community to the issues that LWVMN influences.

Need more information on how to participate? Check out this webpage from the Office of the Secretary of State for more information. Precinct caucuses vary from party to party, and sometimes even location to location. Contact the party of your preference for more detailed information.
